The New 2023 Dodge Challenger
Industry insiders speculate that 2023 could be the last model year for Dodge’s iconic Challenger coupe, which means that now is the best time to get your hands on one. If you prioritize incredibly powerful engines and cabin comfort, the Challenger is clearly ahead of its rivals. Our team at Performance Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram Centerville summarizes the Challenger’s key features below for you to check out.

There’s a large variety of engine choices in the Dodge Challenger, which makes it a great vehicle for daily driving or hitting the local track. The base V-6 engine puts out just over 300 hp, which is more than enough power for city driving. As you move up through the trims, you can access a 5.7-liter V-8 engine or a larger 6.4-liter V-8 unit to improve the acceleration.
However, if you want your Challenger to shift off the line as fast as possible, you’ll want to opt for one of Dodge’s Hellcat engines. In the Challenger, the Hellcat supercharged V-8 has several configurations, which range in output from 717 hp to a remarkable 807 hp.
Few competitors come close to matching the Challenger’s power under the hood. The closest rival to the Challenger’s top-of-the-line 807-hp engine is the Ford Mustang with a 760-hp unit.
As you’d expect from the Challenger’s diverse engine lineup, fuel efficiency ranges considerably. In the rear-wheel drive model, the base V-6 engine will provide 19 mpg on city roads and 30 mpg on the highway. If you opt for the 5.7-liter V-8 model, your gas mileage drops slightly to 16 mpg and 25 mpg, respectively, and the 6.4-liter V-8 model achieves 15 mpg and 24 mpg, respectively.
If you opt for the supercharged V-8 model, fuel economy probably isn’t a major consideration for you. However, you’ll manage 13 mpg on city roads and 21 mpg on the highway.
2023 Challenger Interior
The Challenger may be a two-door coupe, but it has a huge interior with adult-friendly seating in both rows. In contrast to many other coupes, it has three rear-row seats instead of two. At the rear, you’ll find over 16 cu ft of cargo storage in the trunk. This puts the Challenger well ahead of other sports car competitors, such as the Chevy Camaro and Ford Mustang, when it comes to storage space.
The interior features cloth upholstery in the Challenger’s base trim, but you can upgrade to luxurious leather in the higher trims. If you’ll be traveling with kids in the rear row, you’ll find three sets of LATCH connectors, which would enable you to install child seating.
2023 Challenger Infotainment Features
Unparalleled power isn’t the only thing that the Challenger offers, as it also boasts a wide array of modern infotainment technology for you to enjoy during long or short drives. The base entertainment system includes a 7-inch screen and six-speaker stereo. It’s also equipped with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, which ensure that you have smartphone compatibility. Other connectivity options include Bluetooth and two USB ports.
The Challenger’s infotainment system is called Uconnect. It includes a voice recognition feature that allows you to use basic commands to control the volume, adjust the navigation system, and make hands-free phone calls.
You can upgrade to a larger 8.4-inch screen and several premium stereo options, including an 18-speaker surround-sound unit. Dodge also offers a navigation system and satellite radio as optional extras.
Challenger Safety Features
You can equip the Challenger with numerous safety features to make your job easier behind the wheel. Adaptive cruise control can change the Challenger’s speed on the highway to ensure that you keep an appropriate distance from the drivers ahead.
Front-collision warning, blind-spot monitoring, and a rear-cross traffic alert help you to avoid accidents. If you’d like assistance when parking in tight spots, the Challenger’s rear parking sensors will alert you to approaching obstacles to enable you to maneuver in and out of parking spots with confidence.
Dodge Challenger Trims and MSRP
There are seven trims to choose from in the Challenger’s 2023 lineup, including SXT, GT, R/T, R/T Scatpack, SRT Hellcat, SRT Hellcat Redeye, and SRT Super Stock. This long trim lineup gives you plenty of options to customize your Challenger with different appearance packages, exterior colors, and power train configurations. The Challenger’s MSRP starts at approximately $30,000 in the base trim and rises to over $80,000 if you opt for one of the range-topping Hellcats.
Unlike many cars, the Challenger allows you to upgrade the base SXT trim to Nappa leather upholstery and heated front seats. The GT trim adds performance brakes and steering wheel, upgraded cloth upholstery, and rear parking sensors.
The main difference with the R/T trim is that you gain access to the 5.7-liter V-8 engine, as well as a performance exhaust and upgraded rear axle. Upgrading to the Scatpack gets you the 485-hp V-8 engine, launch control, Brembo brakes, and high-performance suspension. In the cabin, you get the larger infotainment screen, heated front seats, and a heated steering wheel.
The SRT Hellcat is designed for the track. In addition to its 717-hp engine, it features an open-air intake, piston Brembo brakes, and a heavy-duty differential. The Hellcat Redeye’s engine achieves 797 hp, while the Super Stock gets the full 807 hp under the hood and is fitted with street-legal race tires.
