2023 Chrysler 300: Updates & Future Outlook

After an 18-year run and continuous enhancements, the Chrysler 300 full-size sedan has been discontinued, ending with the 2023 version. This may change if Chrysler introduces a new model beyond the 300 sedan, but that may take a few years. Chrysler doesn’t intend to abandon the 300 abruptly, though. Instead, the American automaker is launching the 2023 300C — a limited-edition version of the 300 with major powertrain improvements and extra features. Given that the other Chrysler 300 models are in their final year, they have been mostly unchanged over the 2022 versions. However, the 2023 Chrysler 300C honors the nearly 70-year history leading up to the 300 and offers a gorgeous cabin and superior driving performance. This limited edition should arrive in the spring of 2023. Check out our evaluation of the Chrysler 300C and standard 300 models below.

Trim Levels and Exterior

Since the 2015 redesign of the 300, styling for the 2023 300 has remained largely unchanged. It’s available in three trim levels: Touring, Touring L, and S. Except for the front end, which features a distinctive mesh grille with an offset tri-color emblem and striking black headlamp and taillamp bezels, all the body panels and lighting components are identical to 2022.

Then there’s the 300C limited edition, with a small run of only 2,000 models that come with an exclusive, super-charged powertrain planned for release in North America. However, it doesn’t just carry updates under the hood. Drive confidently on 20-inch forged wheels with all-season tires, black chrome accents, and Brembo brakes with red-painted calipers. Available adaptive high-intensity discharge headlamps with automatic leveling ensure your view is clear. The 300C has three exterior paint choices available: Bright White, Velvet Red, and Gloss Black.

Engine and Powertrain

As a top-performing sedan, the 300C uses the Chrysler 6.4-liter HEMI V-8 engine, which produces 485 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque. As for all regular trim levels of the 2023 Chrysler 300, the classic Pentastar V-6 is back as the standard choice. This engine has 292 horsepower, 260 lb-ft of torque, and configurations for rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.

Alternatively, consider the 5.7-liter V-8, found on the 300S, with 363 horsepower and 394 lb-ft of torque. This V-8, like the Chrysler 300C’s HEMI V-8, is rear-wheel-drive only. The eight-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission can make shifts in as little as 160 milliseconds. This ultra-quick response makes driving more intuitive, while also improving the V-8’s performance.

Performance Features

The 2023 Chrysler 300 returns with no notable alterations, which is understandable given the 300’s smooth, empowering driving feel. An active damping suspension constantly monitors the road and makes modifications to ensure a luxury driving experience. The 300S’s V-8 brings extra thrills, but the real update everyone’s talking about is the 300C.

The 2023 300C needs only 4.3 seconds to accelerate from zero to 60 miles per hour, with a quarter-mile time of 12.3 seconds, all thanks to the powerful engine and track-performance adjustments. Behind each tire of the 300C, the four-piston Brembo brakes help ensure that its stopping power can keep up with the car’s tremendous acceleration. Cornering and other nimble actions are made easier because of the 3.09 limited-slip differential. An active exhaust system provides the perfect soundtrack for all the excitement.

Interior Dimensions and Features

The standard 300’s interior is unchanged, with the same spread of fine touches and overall roomy design. As you browse new vehicles, look for one with a panoramic sunroof if you like an open-air drive. It comes with an 8.4-inch touch screen with the UConnect interface and advanced smartphone connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. You can even use speech recognition to make calls and send or receive text messages while keeping your eyes on the road.

Space and comfort, however, have always been the Chrysler 300 cabin’s main advantages. You’ll get 40.1 inches of legroom in the back and 41.8 inches in the front, along with 37.9 inches of headroom in the back and 38.6 inches up front. The rear seats can conveniently fold down in a 60/40 split for better access to the 16.3-cubic-foot cargo area. These all add up to a roomy car and are even comparable to some compact SUVs.

As for the one notable new arrival for the 2023 model year, special 300C Chrysler emblems and silver stitching details spice up the limited-edition model. Real carbon-fiber accents are also used in interior detailing. On the leather-covered cockpit dashboard and the soft-touch door panels, there’s additional silver stitching, and carbon-fiber accents surround the classic Chrysler shift dial in the center console. Dual automatic climate control zones, a heated steering wheel, and power-heated and ventilated front seats are all standard on the 300C.

Safety and Driver Assistance

The Chrysler 300C offers cutting-edge driving assistance and a solid safety record, just like the Chrysler Pacifica. Advanced brake assist lets you stop much faster, avoiding collisions caused by you not reacting in time. The brake assist works in tandem with full-speed collision warning plus, which keeps an eye out for potential problems and gently alerts you, just like lane-departure warning and other returning driver-aid technologies.
